Storm merch drop review
Embrace your time in the late-capitalist wasteland by wearing Storm gear
A couple of merch drops have hit the club’s official shop in July with the first being a couple of caps and beanies from New Era commemorating the 25 years of Storm.
The two caps are throwbacks to original 1998/99 designs, with the white cap reminiscent of this FILA x Storm cap which randomly showed up in 2021.
What’s new about this range though is the special 25 pin that is only available with these caps and beanies. Which is really disappointing that the pin wasn’t made available to members as a bonus item like the 10 year pins were back in 2007. I guess this carries on the standard set in 2018 when the 20th anniversary season passed by without a pin, with that logo eventually coming as a pin in this later.
The second merch drop was the anticipated1 range from Mitchell & Ness. Storm fans could purchase a bunch of faux-vintage items that ranged from the weird to overpriced.
The two graphic t-shirts looked nice, although at $60 each does feel a bit pricey in the current climate. Initially the Olympic Park design caught my eye, until it was pointed out that it actually says GR(A)VY RD.
Because that’s the gravy.2
While this $290 jacket can only even be worn fully buttoned, lest you want to advertise your love of STO ORM…
I did like that white cap in this range with the 1999 NRL Premiers embroidered badge, but it was hard to justify a purchase at $60 for the generic front design.
Eventually I succumbed to the purple jumper, if only for the extra anniversary embroidered logos on the sleeve.
If any of you pick up anything from either range, let me know.
Or not, depending on your perspective.
